No records kept - but if you
played here email me and I'll add your name. I can only remember that
the great 'Stewart Parkes & Winston Weatherill'
(ex-Gary Farr & The T-Bones) were the first people ever to play for us.
Also a couple of big names played - Georgie Fames and his
Sons - set up by Pete
McCarthy when they were doing a show together in Brighton. Also
Flaco Jimenez, Oscar Telez and the boys played, and I missed it,
'cos I was in Edinburgh for the Festival with Capt. J.J.Waller. Also,
sometime in about 1992 when Pete Howells, Mike Mann, Mick Cane and myself
had a sort of Sunday lunchtime residency, (Do a number with the Band and
win a Pint!) that Tiny Tim (RIP) came in. He was
in Brighton for the Festival (attempting to break the world non-stop singing
record) - came in, did a number or two with us. I remember he had his
Ukulele in his pocket and that he did a blues!! Later that day he played
me a Nashville recorded Country album that I don't think ever got released.
He drank Guinness and called me Mr. Mike! Also Johnny WInters
Backing Band played London, his band wanted to stay in the country
and have a look around ....... eventually my phone rang and we set up
a couple of dates in Brighton, one with us .......... happy days .........
In May 1987, I thought it would
be nice to build a stage in the car park and put on an
act or two ....... |
